Bariatric surgery (weight loss surgery) is a term used to describe surgical procedures that assist in weight loss. The procedures include gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, adjustable gastric band, and duodenal switch.
Gallbladder surgery (cholecystectomy) is the surgical removal of the gallbladder. This is a common treatment of symptomatic gallstones and other gallbladder conditions.
Hernia surgery (herniorrhaphy) is a surgical procedure for the correction of a hernia - bulging of internal organs through weak tissue or muscle. The most common types of hernia are inguinal (inner groin), incisional (resulting from an incision), femoral (outer groin), umbilical (belly button), and hiatal (upper stomach).
Acid-reflux surgery (fundoplication) is a minimally-invasive surgical procedure that corrects gastroesophageal reflux by creating an effective valve mechanism at the bottom of the esophagus. This is used as a treatment of GERD when lifestyle changes and medicine are not successful.
Colon (colectomy) and rectal (proctectomy) surgeries are performed to treat colon and rectal cancers, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or diverticulitis. They may also be necessary after an injury, serious infection, or bowel blockage.
Gastric Surgery is the surgical removal of all or part of the stomach, typically performed to to treat stomach cancer.
Breast surgery is performed on the breast for medical or cosmetic reasons. Medical reasons for needing breast surgery are breast cancer, non-cancerous breast lumps and breast reduction surgery. Cosmetic reasons for wanting breast surgery are breast augmentation, breast lift, and breast reconstruction.
